I start with what actually happens — not what the process documentation says. That means talking to the people doing the work, following the exception paths, and understanding why the workarounds exist before proposing anything.

From there, the work is about clarity: mapping the current state honestly, identifying root causes rather than symptoms, and setting out options with their trade-offs so leaders can make an informed decision. I write recommendations in plain language, because change only happens when everyone involved understands it.

I stay involved through implementation. Analysis that stops at the report rarely changes anything.

Large organisations have long had access to senior business analysis and transformation expertise. Smaller organisations — service-based SMEs, charities and lean public-sector teams — usually have not. They face the same pressures: manual administration, disconnected systems, unclear processes and growing pressure to adopt AI, often without the in-house capacity to address them.

ATJ Consultancy Ltd was established to close that gap: to make experienced, senior-led transformation support available at a scale and price that smaller organisations can genuinely use, without a delivery pyramid or a vendor agenda attached.
